Electronic Submission of Two-Page Summary – Entry Deadline- Extended
![]() |
Purpose:One purpose of the Access Management Conference Student Competition is to encourage and expose young professionals to access management as a tool in transportation planning and design. Presenting their work at the Conference will provide an excellent opportunity to see the broad scope of access management. In addition, this competition will allow students to develop their professional skills by interacting with other professionals, will provide an atmosphere in which students can seek mentoring, and will reward students for participating in the competition. |
Eligibility:Any student currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree is eligible to participate. Access management covers a broad range of disciplines, so students from any degree may participate. Award:Judges will select the top three posters determined by the Scoring System. The winner will be announced at the Closing Session of the 2008 Access Management Annual Meeting. The top three entries will receive an award certificate(s). First place $500. Procedure:Deadline for electronic submittal of a two-page summary of the poster presentation is Extended- but you must act soon. Contact (thomas.hiles@hdrinc.com). Because the competition is a poster presentation, a journal-quality paper is not required. However, any high quality papers submitted will be considered by the Committee for publication in the conference proceedings. The committee will review submissions and respond by May 30, 2008. All selected participants will be invited to attend the 2008 Mid-Year Meeting of the TRB Access Management Committee. Registration for the conference is online at www.accessmanagement.info. Presentation:A 30”x40” (horizontal x vertical) poster area will be given to each student to display the poster material. (Large, plotted sheets are preferred over small pages.). The panel of judges will view each poster and each participant will give a maximum 5-minute oral summary of their work and respond to maximum of 3 questions from the panel. Presentations will be Tuesday afternoon at a time to be announced. |
